Description: Dear Sir,

I am writing this mail to bring to your kind notice the following nomenclature issue related to the genus Agapetes under the family Ericaceae. The following ambiguity was observed by myself and Dr. Hai from IEBR, Vietnam.

Your website treats Vaccinium chapaense Merr. as a synonym of A. guangxiensis, which is NOT correct.

Actually, Vaccinium chapaense Merr. is a synonym of Agapetes rubrobracteata R.C. Fang & S.H. Huang.

Accordingly, the distribution of A. guangxiensis should be only restricted to China and not to Vietnam.

Hope you'll consider the changes and update the website soon.

Best regards,
Ritesh

Comment: This seems to be a case where the lossy nature of the IPNI dataset GBIF has led to problems. IPNI knows that Vaccinium chapaense has been replaced by Agapetes rubrobracteata and has this in a machine readable form (see http://darwin.zoology.gla.ac.uk/~rpage/lsid/tester/?q=urn%3Alsid%3Aipni.org%3Anames%3A907520-1 ), but this information isn't available in the IPNI DwCA file. Another argument for separating names from taxa and being able to express purely nomenclatural relationships between names ;)
