Description: GBIF has the genus for tapirs (Tapirus) twice:

_Tapirus_ Brisson, 1762 http://www.gbif.org/species/7939585 with 5,075 occurrences

_Tapirus_ Brünnich, 1771 (note encoding issue) http://www.gbif.org/species/2440895 with 7,620 occurrences

These are the same name, but mammlogists have made a mess of things. _Tapirus_ was published by Brisson in 1762 in a work that has been rejected because it wasn't binomial. Hence some people treated the subsequent use of _Tapirus_ by Brünnich, 1771 as the first correct publication. This is why we have two names.

However the ICZN has ruled that some of Brisson's generic names are OK, see ICZN Opinion 1894 http://biostor.org/reference/5499, including the name _Tapirus_ Brisson, 1762. Hence this is the name to use.

Not sure how come the number of occurrences for the two _Tapirus_ names is different.
