Only have USB 3.0 interface on the Linux box. Don't trust the NTFS implementation in Linux so:
a. Keep NTFS format -> slower copy
b. Reformat as EXT4 -> faster because Linux has USB 3.0 and I can optimize the mount parameters

Comment: Format has to be OSX server. Rather than study the HFS format options in order to optimize for large files, let Oliver format the drive. :-> So much for speed.

Comment: HFS problem(s) on Linux: journaling doesn't seem to be working! Either disable journal OR use NTFS.
