Description: This is a copy of an email I sent to BID@GBIF.org on the 22nd July 2015. Please would you forward my query to someoe directkly connected to the BID programme? Thank you.
Dear Sir/Madam,
We received notification of the first round of your BID funding call. We notice that the description for the use of the small grant has been changed since the initial description:
Was: Small grants of up to €5,000 to mobilize biodiversity data.
Now: Small biodiversity data mobilization grants of up to €5,000, which seek to mobilize biodiversity data through the preparation of data papers from individual data holders (individual persons, institutions, projects) targeted for use in decision-making and/or research.
We had prepared a Concept note hoping to submit for the small grant but it now seems that what we have in mind does not fit as well with the new description of your intentions for the small grants.
PSUB herbarium at the Okavango Research Institute has at its core 10,000 botanical specimens (collected between the mid-1970s to present) from in and around the Okavango delta a RAMSAR site which was declared the 1000th World heritage site in 2014. We would like to use the BID small grant funding to enter label data into BRAHMS and to share it with GBIF.
Do you think that this use of your funds could be considered in the small grant category? We would be happy to supply you with more detail of our proposal if it would assist. We, PSUB are currently approaching a UNDP-GEF funded project for co-funding.
Thank you for consideration of our query. I look forward to hearing from you soon.
Yours Frances Murray-Hudson
