Description: Discovered after our 12-year-old actually asked me about 'the GBIF website'.
iNaturalist Observation from just a few weeks ago (http://www.gbif.org/occurrence/1135526829) has a photo with the statement 'no license given'. My settings in iNat are that photos are CC BY (although observations are CC0), so I was surprised to see this. Are we missing the licence declaration, or is it something in the iNat API and/or data refresh?]]>

This is because iNat uses a very simple way of publishing images to us. They should use the proper multimedia extension that can carry the copyright, title, creator and other properties for every image. But instead they just publish the image URL to us like this:

Thanks, Markus! Thought the answer could be something like that.
Interesting that iNat must send us enough DwC to work when filtering for occurrences with multimedia—I would’ve thought it might preclude that.
Either way, though, I’ll flag it for Donald, too, given his level of engagement with iNat and its discussion forum.
