Description: The occurrences of species "Amomum sulcatum http://www.gbif.org/species/5301892 are actually Amomum plicatum, described in 2012 in:

Lamxay, V., & Newman, M. F. (2012). A REVISION OF AMOMUM (ZINGIBERACEAE) IN CAMBODIA, LAOS AND VIETNAM. Edinburgh Journal of Botany, 69(01), 99–206. http://dx.doi.org/10.1017/s0960428611000436

This can be seen by looking at the verbatim version of the occurrences. Looks like because this name isn't in nub it's been matched to "Amomum sulcatum"  which is a synonym of "Aframomum sulcatum" and now GBIF has the African genus Aframomum in Asia :(

I guess this is another argument for having an updated version of IPNI in GBIF.]]>

good news is the name is now part of the CoL and thus part of the new backbone:
