Description: The occurrences of species "Amomum sulcatum are actually Amomum plicatum, described in 2012 in:

Lamxay, V., & Newman, M. F. (2012). A REVISION OF AMOMUM (ZINGIBERACEAE) IN CAMBODIA, LAOS AND VIETNAM. Edinburgh Journal of Botany, 69(01), 99–206.

This can be seen by looking at the verbatim version of the occurrences. Looks like because this name isn't in nub it's been matched to "Amomum sulcatum"  which is a synonym of "Aframomum sulcatum" and now GBIF has the African genus Aframomum in Asia :(

I guess this is another argument for having an updated version of IPNI in GBIF.]]>
