To be fair GBIF does, sorta, in that eventually one can scroll down to a "Higher taxon" facet for Fungi, but it has to be said that species name search in GBIF *sucks*
The order of results bears little relationship to what I'm guessing users would want (i.e., exact matches first, clearly distinguished by major taxonomic group, e.g. by using icons for animals, plants, fungi, etc.)
There is also the horrible pollution of results by the same name replicated over and over again because it appears in multiple checklists.
Yes if one has patience one can use facets to filter out extraneous checklists and taxa, but I bet if anybody did a usability study on this search experience nobody would like it.
