Description: Ross Mounce used the genus _Lefebvria_ as an example of an error in GBIF https://twitter.com/rmounce/status/720906084303683584

The name http://www.gbif.org/species/7318304 has the source "NUB Generator [implicit canonical]". Both species names associated with this genus come from IPNI _Lefebvria angustisecta_ Engl. http://www.gbif.org/species/3628827 and _Lefebvria zenkeri_ Engl. http://www.gbif.org/species/3628817, so I assume the genus _Lefebvria_ is generated from those names in order to provide a genus name. In IPNI the source for these names is given as "iii. 11. (Engl. & Drude, Veg. der Erde, ix.) 829(1921), in obs." which is http://biodiversitylibrary.org/page/34221048 in BHL.

Looking at the previous page in BHL the genus is given as _ Lefeburia_ ("u" not "v"), so it looks like there are a number of spelling of this genus name, and the one in IPNI is a typo of the one in the source, itself a misspelling.]]>

According to TROPICOS:

_Lefeburea_	Endl.	Gen. Pl. Suppl. 2: 69	1842

is illegitimate.

and

_Lefeburia_	Lindl.	Veg. Kingd. 778	1846

is invalid.

_Lefebvrea_ A. Rich.	Ann. Sci. Nat., Bot., sér. 2 14: 260	1840

is the accepted genus name.

But I haven't checked the primary sources myself...
