Description: The occurrence http://www.gbif.org/occurrence/1133337603 has the verbatim record:

GENUS PANDION
SPECIFICEPITHET LOVENSIS

(note tha ALLCAPS). So, the actual name is _Pandion lovensis_, which GBIF doesn't have (but see http://biostor.org/reference/75100 ), so it's matched to _Pandion_.

Hence I'd expect a "fuzzy match" issue to be flagged for this occurrence, but it's not. Any ideas why?

Comment: Indeed strange. It should not be flagged as fuzzy, but the issue TAXON_MATCH_HIGHERRANK should have been raised!

Comment: [~mdoering@gbif.org] I think it's a bit more serious than that, see linked issue http://dev.gbif.org/issues/browse/DM-306 Even if GBIF has the name it is not being matched, hence the Florida dataset linked to is full of inadequately matched names.
