Description: I recently reviewed the species search, documenting its complete list of facet filters ( see: http://dev.gbif.org/wiki/display/POR/Webservice+API#WebserviceAPI-ChecklistBankServices:SearchService )
The following facet filters are implemented in the Portal:
Dataset (dataset_key)
Rank (rank_key)
Higher taxon key (higher_taxon_nub_key)
Extinct (extinct)
Status (taxonomic_status_key)
Habitat (marine)
The following available facet filters are _not_ implemented in the Portal yet:
Name type (name_type)
Threat (threat_status_key)
Is this on purpose? If they are in our API, why not expose them in the Portal? ]]>

Comment: [~mdoering@gbif.org] Can you please explain again, why you believe name type shouldn't be offered as a filter? Thanks

Comment: the values for NameType are invented by checklist bank as it was needed and do not represent any status governed by nomenclatoral codes. I think they are very useful, but I expect to get quite some feedback on why a name has this or that status. But actually it might be more useful than bewildering. Being able to quickly search for virus names, blacklisted or doubtful names is very useful when "debugging" data issues. I think I'd like to see that being added now that I thought abut it more!
