Description: In the original dataset mockup ( http://portal-static.gbif.org/dataset/checklist.html ) there were 3 columns of names.

I have implemented this mirroring how data for taxonomic coverages get entered in the IPT: 3 columns: Scientific name, Common name, and Rank.

***1. Is this alright?

In the right hand sidebar, there is:

TAXONOMIC COVERAGE

Animalia

SECOND LEVEL DATA ELEMENTS

References 200
Common names 32
Specimens

***2. What would I populate for Taxonomic coverage, the highest taxa list?

***3. What are references or specimens in this context?

Can I confirm: after the last meeting with Vissuality in Madrid, this section has been revised to only show a Browse Classification section (see screenshot).

If so, the layout can be considered final and we can close this issue. [~trobertson@gbif.org] [~mdoering@gbif.org]

Comment: I dont think so, no. But the taxonomic coverage block is hidden if it does not contain any keywords, maybe thats the case in your screenshot?

Comment: Must be my problem. Instead of searching aimlessly, do you have a reference checklist that shows something more than http://staging.gbif.org:8080/portal-web-dynamic/dataset/3f8a1297-3259-4700-91fc-acc4170b27ce does? [~mdoering@gbif.org]

Comment: I am afraid no. Need to search for metadata with a taxonomic coverage. But all checklists and occurrence datasets should NOT have this, as we dont store any EML right now for registered datasets and its part of the EML, not the registry data

Comment: The outstanding issue before this can be closed, is that instead of there being a separate search link for each name, each individual scientific name or common name is appended to a single search link URL for each taxon rank.

The last problem was actually in the data: Names were comma separated lists, and that explains the bad links.

Closing issue.

Comment: Change http://dev.gbif.org/code/changelog/gbif-portal?cs=1155 expands section to full width, when there is nothing to display in the right sidebar.
