Done: If no interpreted value exists, the verbatim value is displayed in a different color indicating that it is of type verbatim (see here for css change: http://code.google.com/p/gbif-portal/source/diff?spec=svn459&r=459&format=side&path=/portal-web/trunk/src/main/webapp/css/style.css )

Regarding this, I need to follow up and see that a verbatim value can actually exist with a null interpreted enum - see sub task.

Comment: we only have 3 fields in EML/dataset with an interpreted enum, all of which are shown as headings (contact type, data language & tax coverage rank) so a hover over would seriously break the design. Its not worth the effort to show the verbatim and it can always be retrieved via the original EML download. So closing this now
