- EML (help icon)
I find this thoroughly confusing and propose this:
METADATA DOCUMENTS
- Original (EML format) (help icon as it is)
- Cached copy (help icon explaining why a copy is available)
- Generated document (EML format) (help icon explaining it is generated from all available content)

Agree that its confusing. Maybe show "cached" behind Original on the same line as its supposed to be the same unless they are out of sync? And explain in info that original is an external live link?
Could we find a better word for "Generated copy", maybe "GBIF amended version"?

How is the GBIF one produced? Only the GBIF metadata profile or all content augmented?

Comment: Right now its only overlaying the registry information and producing a new EML based on the GBIF profile. The service method says it contains the same information as the get(key) dataset contains. Im expecting this EML to contain any additional metadata we can create in particular geospatial, temporal and taxonomic coverage. Right now its more of a standardized EML based on the same template

Thanks Markus. So potentially it could be far less rich that the original, so warrants an explanation, and link to the GBIF Metadata Profile document.

Comment: I wasn't 'that' confused until I saw this issue. The rewording and help icons as you propose should clear any confusion. Sounds good to me the way you put it.

Cached is on a separate line by design, since the line looked way too cluttered when I tried it (2 different links side by side which appeared indistinguishable)
