Description: 2 people have mailed me privately for this, and it should be considered major (not blocker)

Peter D. and Dimitri B both confirmed they'd prefer to wait longer for the download.

Most likely we should consider a Hive union which will be quicker than a single thread rewriting a potentially large file.
