[~mdoering@gbif.org] can you investigate this issue? seems to me that it's related to the new Nub, the old portal shows a different scientific name for this occurrence 27323
Old portal: http://data.gbif.org/occurrences/27323/ (scientific name = Melosira arctica var. krembsii Kaczmarska & R.Jahn )
New portal: http://www.gbif.org/occurrence/27323 (scientific name = Melosira arctica Dickie)

The scientific name "Melosira arctica var. krembsii Kaczmarska & R.Jahn" is not indexed in the current portal, the following search resturns 0 results: http://www.gbif.org/species/search?q=Melosira+arctica+var.+krembsii+Kaczmarska+%26+R.Jahn

Yes, in the current nub (the same since a year) there are no varieties of Melosira arctica, so the occurrence gets attached to the species instead: http://www.gbif.org/species/3194071
The old portal also does not have the variety in the nub, but shows the original occurrence taxon. I have created PF-1360 to always show the verbatim name in case the nub lookup did not succeed to directly match the original name.

I will also recommend Algaterra again to publish their names as a checklist that we can then include into the nub to be aware of these varieties.

Comment: [~fmendez@gbif.org] is the primarily reported occurrence search error fixed?

Comment: To answer your question [~mdoering@gbif.org] the initial search problem has apparently been fixed (see screenshot). Since you created PF-1360 to address the other problem. This issue can be closed as fixed.
