Issue 10726

occurrence detail: fill context help for Alternative Identifier with meaningful value

10726
Reporter: ahahn

Type: Improvement
Summary: occurrence detail: fill context help for Alternative Identifier with meaningful value
Description: The context help for "Alternative Identifiers" currently reads "Alternate Identifier" for all textual values from the index database. Instead, give an indication of the type of identifier (see portal.lookup_identifier_type: collector number; accession number; GUID; field number; sequence number; other catalog number). This should not be necessary where the shape of the identifier self-documents (DOI, LSID), but needs to be qualified where there is only a text value.

Comment: Tha means extending the IdentifierType enum with the listed entries and also make sure it gets populated / exists in the registry

well, seems we are mixing up things here.
Accession number, catalogue number, sequence number etc is for occurrence records, not for dataset ids.
So is there really any further dataset identifier type we haven't dealt with?

Right, got side-tracked. This indeed belongs into the occurrences, not the dataset. Suggest to just remove the context help then, as it does not provide any value in this position

Comment: Please discuss this with the group to find out when multiple alternative identifiers will be available in HBase - should be tackled together with backend work
