Description: Willem Coetzer, Sauth Africa, has a GBIF checklist called "Catalogue of Afrotropical Bees:
http://ecat-dev.gbif.org/checklist/1063

The literature references are possibly the most important information, after the names themselves (which are exhaustive). It is his burning desire to be able to click on a reference and have the page of the article from BHL displayed as a result (I have all the page numbers).

BHL has an OpenURL link resolver. What I need to know is what fields to populate so this can be done?

For example "Anthophora (Heliophila) xanthostoma Cockerell" contains 2 bib references:

Looking at the parameters openurl accepts and the fields the gbif extension provides we probably need to add more fields to our extension:

http://www.biodiversitylibrary.org/openurlhelp.aspx
http://rs.gbif.org/extension/gbif/1.0/references.xml

I would think once we can populate the following fields in the dwca extension we should be able to link to BHL in the near future:

exists already:
dc:title
dc:creator
dc:date

missing today:
page number
issn
isbn

maybe also
publisher
volume
issue

As an immediate solution for publishers one can construct the BHL open url link on the publishers side and put it into the dc:identifier field.

For example http://www.biodiversitylibrary.org/openurl?genre=book&title=Manual+of+North+American+Diptera&aufirst=Samuel+Wendell&aulast=Williston&publisher=New+Haven+:J.T.+Hathaway,&date=1908&spage=16

Comment: [~mdoering@gbif.org] sounds like you need to create a new issue to add the new terms to the references extension (if it doesn't exist already) and mark it as blocking this issue.

For my own interest, the example given by Markus http://dev.gbif.org/issues/browse/POR-1515?focusedCommentId=10987&page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel#comment-10987 is now http://www.gbif.org/species/111084911

The two references are:
Cockerell, T.D.A. 1932. LIII.—Descriptions and records of bees.—CXXXVIII. Annals and Magazine of Natural History 10 (ser. 10): 488-496

Cockerell, T.D.A. 1935. Scientific results of the Verney-Lang Kalahari Expedition, March to September, 1930, Hymenoptera (Apoidea). Annals of the Transvaal Museum 17: 63-94

These have globally unique, resolvable identifiers:
  doi:10.1080/00222933208673508
  hdl:10499/AJ2685
