Comment: We are aware the paging is non-standard and I am informed by Cip there are limits to what he can do based on the existing module from Mendeley API but he will do his best to improve the look. Links to other categories via the sidebar is straightforward and will be done. I regard these changes as high priority but not blockers.

Comment: [~thirsch@gbif.org], [~kbraak@gbif.org] plsease check the best option that I've got so far... eventually close it if you feel like it looks palatable.

The paging buttons don't seem to work at all. Any button shows me the same 20 results.

Can we reopen this?

... yes, they do work! :-@ Verified on FF, GC, S on Mac: http://staging.gbif.org/mendeley/distribution

portaldev though, comes via varnish/rewrite so maybe open a case with the Java team for cache expiration? :-(

I restarted the cache, but that didn't work. So currently we still have a difference between what' shown on http://portaldev.gbif.org/mendeley/distribution http://staging.gbif.org/mendeley/distribution

Any other ideas?

Bit more patience seems to have done the trick.

One more thing.

The only way to get to http://portaldev.gbif.org/mendeley/distribution is through the Using data, Science relevance tab: http://portaldev.gbif.org/usingdata/sciencerelevance

We should start to use breadcrumbs (back buttons) on pages like this, where it's basically a dead end. See screenshot.

To begin with, this is the set of templates approved by TH and handed out to me.

In all practical terms, I don't think there's time until the Monday release. [~thirsch@gbif.org] ??

Comment: I just had a short conversation with Tim, and I'm under the impression these kinds of changes can happen later. Thanks for your hard work on this issue Cip. I'll open another broader issue related to breadcrumbs, and close this one.

The buttons are nicer for sure, but they are not the standard buttons we use elsewhere for paging

Comment: Please accept that this is not ideal but Cip has (I understand) got the best result feasible within the time available, given the module he was working with. There are other priorities concerning the look of Drupal text (bullet points) and news tags (non-standard lower case for regions) which will be much more noticeable and I want him to concentrate on fixing that before the migration Monday morning.

Comment: I do understand that and it is not considered a blocker anymore, but the issue is not resolved and it should be kept open until its fully done. If we close half done issues just because of GB we will not solve them afterwards. Please keep it open and feel free to decrease the priority, but it is not solved. We can also make use of the field "Fix versions" to indicate when this issue should be fixed with the release tomorrow being 1.0. Ill make it 1.1 so its clear it does not need to be worked on now

Fixing the right hand title of the section is trivial, e.g. http://staging.gbif.org/mendeley/agriculture

As for the pager, [~bko@gbif.org] can you please give an estimation about the time it will take to update your NPT module so that your JavaScript pager looks just like the rest of the site?

Author: bko@gbif.org
Comment: Just to investigate possible ways to modify the paging, while for now maintaining the light weight module, how will the pager look like on the rest of the site if there are more then a hundred items?

Comment: Check the portal... You basically have a "window" of page numbers.

Got it. So basically display the first few pager buttons and skip the rest.

I'll summarise what has been discussed around Mendeley in POR-1665 by pulling out discussions in our emails.

Comment: If for now what troubles is only the style of pager, the solution could simply be changing the js library. It'll take about half day to adopt to a different library, and maybe longer to adjust the CSS.

Comment: The style of the pager seems to be the main issue so IMHO swap the library.
