Description: There are data publishers trying to assign GUID for their records, and at the same time asking how their GUID will be handled as well as what DwC term is advised when mapping in IPT/DwC-A. We need a general instructive text (online) for data publishers around GUID and occurrenceID. This text should answer questions or refer to relevant text as the following:
1. How does GBIF do for ensuring the global uniqueness of occurrence records;
2. Issues of using triplets for global uniqueness;
3. Options of assigning GUID for occurrence records;
4. Validation of DwC-A on IPT in data publishing regarding occurrenceID;
5. What data publishers can expect on the GBIF portal and GBIF API by having occurrenceID mapped.

This text will be useful for communication before we finish the occurrence widening and the next release of IPT, which will enforce the mapping of occurrence. Together with the text, we'll also need to advice data publishers necessary technical adjustments in order to meet the new validation requirement of DwC-A.]]>
