Description: I was looking for Sphaenorhynchus lacteus, an Amazonian frog. I first filtered by scientific name and applied the filter (OK). Then I tried to add the country filter, so I wrote the country but the button for applying the filter never showed up.

To reproduce: when the country filter is selected and a string entered into the search box, a dropdown of matches (blue colour) opens up. If now none of these matches is chosen and the entry box loses focus e.g. by clicking somewhere else, the dropdown disappears again and the text entry remains. In that state, the entry can be edited to reactivate the dropdown, but unless that happens, the filter appears to the user to be broken. The "Enter" key does not have any function, and the "Apply" button does not get activated.

Possible solutions:
- supply a help text à la "choose the relevant entry"
- give auto-focus to a full match in the dropdown
- let hitting the Enter key open the dropdown again (and hope that this is hint enough)
- other?

Comment: Email feedback provided to the submitter on how to circumvent the issue. Decision needed: will there be an interface change?

Further description: "When I started typing Colombia, my MAC offered me to complete my data automatically and that square did not allow me to search for Colombia in the dropdown. If I just type a C and the down arrow, I can finally look for Colombia in the blue text. However, the normal user would thank that the extra-step of selecting was eliminated. If the typing matches the database (I mean, if Colombia is written correctly), it should be automatically selected, as it works in the Index of Organism Names."
verify:
-> Mac autocomplete prevents dropdown from opening?
-> dropdown on Mac opens only on the use of the down arrow?

Comment: selection from list is forced now
