Description: As far as I can tell GBIF is missing a lot of data from the Zoologisches Forschungsinstitut und Museum Alexander Koenig (ZFMK) http://www.gbif.org/publisher/6e1cad80-bdf5-11d8-84ea-b8a03c50a862 Based on work I've done on BioStor finding articles in their museum journal, the ZMFK has a big herp collection, but none of this is in GBIF. The publisher page lists their BioCase provider at http://www.gbif.org/installation/603065ae-f762-11e1-a439-00145eb45e9a as http://biocase.zfmk.de//pywrapper.cgi?dsa=ZFMK, but they have a bunch of other providers, see http://biocase.zfmk.de. How come these aren't being harvested...?

Comment: Perhaps a better title would be "Not all ZFMK..."

The ZFMK BioCASE setup has until a few months ago been moribund due to the unfortunate and sudden passing away of Dr. Karl-Heinz Lampe, and their biodiversity informatics departments has had reorganize their affairs accordingly.

We now have a new contact (Peter Grobe) and I will get in touch with him about the possibility of GBIF mediating the herpetology collection and other resources.

The reason we are not automatically indexing all resources behind a BioCASE access point, is that the publisher often has datasets from disparate domains, like anthropology or geology, and they sometimes put up test datasets as well. We are basically told by the publisher which endpoints behind the installation we should enter into the GBIF registry.

Comment: Thanks, they have a lot of great data that hasn't made it into the portal. Looks like just the "default" endpoint http://biocase.zfmk.de//pywrapper.cgi?dsa=ZFMK is being harvested, and a lot of there stuff has different endpoints. I'm interested bacuse I've extracted lot sod ZFMK specimen codes from the Bonn zoological bulletin and it's predecessor, so it would be possible to link the records in GBIF to publications with more details on these occurrences.

Comment: ZFMK has been contacted about the potentially new datasets.

[~rdmpage] New datasets have been added from the ZFMK endpoint. The herpetology dataset managed to index with 8,565 records.

Comment: [~jlegind@gbif.org] Thanks for the update, I'll have a play. They seem rather lacking in both total number of occurrences and number of georeferenced occurrences...
