Description: Rod: Most of the charts, by their nature, are also essentially always going to up (more taxa, more observations, etc.). This is encouraging, but ultimately not terribly informative.
Perhaps a more refined (if harder to compute chart) would be the cumulative number of taxa added over time. That is, start at the earliest collection date and only add a taxon if it has not previously been sampled. I’ve done some of this for a few areas and it can be quite revealing (essentially, you’re trying to estimate how extensive the taxonomic sampling is). There are all sorts of issues with these sorts of accumulation curves, but you quickly get the sense that most areas are under sampled.]]>
