Description: Some checklists have erroneous ranks assigned to usages. For example GRIN has lots of Trifolium repens varieties marked as species:

Searching GRIN Taxonomy for Plants for Trifolium repens

Trifolium repens L. species
Trifolium repens var. atropurpureum hort. species synonym
Trifolium repens var. biasolettii (Steud. & Hochst.) Asch. & Graebn. species
Trifolium repens var. giganteum Lagr.-Foss. species
Trifolium repens var. latum species

When these are processed during the nub build a consistency check must be done to verify rank & name do not contradict!]]>
