Description: Hi [~bko], I hope you are the right person to assign to this.
As you may know, we have linked each country in the IMS to the UN-defined areas and region. In addition to this, we have our own 6 'GBIF regions'.
Israel is an Associate Participant, and according to the UN definition, they are located in Asia in the Western Asia region. However, Israel has asked to be linked to the European GBIF region. Can we do that change manually?
If I look at the page for Israel, http://www.gbif.org/country/IL/participation, I can see that the GBIF region listed is 'Asia'. Is that linked to the information in the IMS?

Comment: Thanks, Anne Mette. Yes, it is possible to change the "shown" region just for Israel, which is what I can do. However, I am not sure whether this should go deeper to the data in the IMS, as it might affect our API([~mdoering@gbif.org] & [~trobertson@gbif.org]) and how we generate regional metrics in the future([~kylecopas]). I am happy to make the change if there is no other concerns.

Both 'areas' appear to be defined in the IMS, and this one already appears to be pulling from the 'GBIF area', correct?
I can't tell where the content is written in the IMS—is it automated somehow? I do think we should allow users to select 'GBIF area' through a dropdown with the six choices. We shouldn't get into redefining UN regions and areas.
