Description: A couple of errors with this name http://www.gbif.org/species/4822197. The first is a classic CoL problem with reptile names, confusing names with chresonyms https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chresonym. The author of Crocodylus suchus is Geoffrey Saint-Hilaire, but GBIF lists the author as Schmitz 2003, which refers to http://dx.doi.org/10.1016/j.crpv.2003.07.002 where Schmitz et al. resurrect this species from within Crocodylus niloticus (see also http://reptile-database.reptarium.cz/species?genus=Crocodylus&species=suchus ). The authorship of this name is messed up by numerous datasets, http://www.gbif.org/species/4822197/datasets?type=CHECKLIST

The other issue is that one of the common names given is "10.1038/news.2011.535" (!). This is the DOI for an article on the species status of Crocodylus suchus http://dx.doi.org/10.1038/news.2011.535 Not sure how a DOI ended up as a common name (it's not obvious to me how to trace the provenance of this name in GBIF).]]>
