Description: Following on from [PF-2600] for the family Platystomatidae http://www.gbif.org/species/9504 GBIF lists a fossil species _Ceroxys ethiopia_ Meunier, 1908 http://www.gbif.org/species/8622478 as a synonym. A species can't be a synonym of a family.
Looks like the error comes from the Paleobiology Database. In their DwCA file the have:
{{monospaced}}
taxon accepted parent rank name
-----------------------------------------------------------------
262337 262337 255573 family Platystomatidae Schiner 1862
262333 262333 262302 genus Ceroxys Macquart 1835
262334 262337 262337 species Ceroxys ethiopia Meunier 1908
{{monospaced}}
The numbers "262337" for accepted and parent are wrong.
Anecdotally I've noticed this on a few families in GBIF. Maybe we need a filtering rule when building the backbone classification: flag any case where a species is a synonym of a higher taxon.
