Description: GBIF Spain publish ISO format metadata documents through OAI as indexed by the Metadata indexer. See:

http://metadata.gbif.org/catalogue/ (Facets->Services->GBIF Spain)

The XML data is in b4g3:/opt/metacatalog/data/metadata/iso19139/10000

We need to include these metadata documents in the Dataset search. In order to do so, the ISO parser -> Dataset object needs to be written and committed to the registry-metadata-service project. Once in there, they will be exposed through the API and thus included when building the index.]]>

Comment: [~eotuama@gbif.org] this is an old issue from 2012. Can you please review it, and comment if this new feature (including external metadata documents in the portal) is needed? We used to parse external metadata documents from KNB, but they were removed from the Portal because they caused confusion, since the documents related to not only biodiversity datasets. Thanks

Comment: I think it will be important to be able to index other widely used metadata formats, in particular ISO 19115/19139 which is a very widely adopted standard for geospatial data. We are also likely to encounter NASA GCMD. This latter is used by OBIS although they may be moving away from it.

Comment: [~eotuama@gbif.org] are we aware of any sources we want to index any time soon that uses ISO?
